Project Introduction
City Collective was engaged to deliver the Priceline Stadium Master Plan, a comprehensive vision to reposition the venue as Adelaide’s premier netball destination. Working closely with Netball SA and key stakeholders, the master plan focused on creating a modern, multi-functional facility that supports elite competition, community engagement, and operational efficiency. The project integrates upgraded infrastructure, improved player and spectator experiences, and a heightened sense of identity for the Adelaide Thunderbirds, aligning the facility with contemporary sports and recreation standards
Key Project Challenges
The redevelopment faced significant challenges, including balancing the needs of elite athletes and community users while working within the constraints of the existing site. The venue required substantial upgrades to improve accessibility, parking capacity, and spectator amenities, particularly given increased attendance and event demand. Additionally, outdated player facilities, limited outdoor amenities, and the need for gender-equitable infrastructure posed challenges in delivering a high-performance venue that meets modern standards
Key Project Innovations
City Collective introduced six key design moves to transform the stadium, including reorienting parking for improved wayfinding and pedestrian safety, establishing an entry plaza to create a vibrant arrival experience, and enhancing outdoor courts with new amenities like change rooms and kiosks. Inside the facility, expanded player facilities were introduced to accommodate gender-equitable spaces, with dedicated lounges and branded zones for the Adelaide Thunderbirds. The master plan also emphasised community inclusivity with upgraded spectator seating, multi-purpose zones, and flexible mezzanine spaces for corporate use, ensuring the stadium delivers both a premier sports experience and a welcoming community hub
