Project Introduction
City Collective are working with the City of Onkaparinga to develop a Visioning implementation plan for the Main Road with a Tourism Focus. This has been undertaken in a series of dynamic, interactive workshops with the local community, Business & Tourism Association, Elected Members and visitors to the regional main street.
Key Project Challenges
The Main Road in McLaren Vale is 1.7km in length and largely disconnected in terms of the services it provides to the local community and the visitor appeal that it currently offers. Our challenge was to look at ways to connect the existing features in a cohesive way that would improve the user experience, attract more visitors and encourage greater stop & spend along the Main Street.
Key Project Innovations
Through innovative consultation techniques the City Collective team presented a series of workshops with the Council representatives, Elected Members, the community and local Business Associations. These workshops worked through themed ‘what if’ scenarios to gauge the appetite and priorities that were being placed on the following key areas of potential activation:
- Public Art Experience
- Increasing the Night Economy
- Leadership in Sustainability
- Premiere Wine & Cycling Destination
