I’m Robert, an architect with extensive experience across Australia and internationally, working across community, performing arts, residential, commercial, and civic projects. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong focus on urban and master planning, feasibility thinking, and solving complex design challenges, always with an eye on heritage, context, and long-term value. My career began in London on the Baghdad International Hospital Complex, and has since taken me across Asia, Europe, and the United States, shaping a broad and adaptable design perspective. As a Director and Principal at Carabiner and Sandover Pinder Architects, I led major projects including the Cockburn Recreation Centre, the Fremantle Dockers Training Headquarters, and the Melbourne Aquarium, each demanding a balance of ambition, precision, and collaboration.
Alongside practice, I’ve remained committed to sharing knowledge through teaching and mentoring at Curtin University. I’m driven by building strong relationships, with clients, communities, and collaborators, and by creating architecture that responds thoughtfully to both people and place.
